Turbo-charge Performance with Effective KPIs and Measurement Practice
Why I Created This Course:
Over the years, I have seen hundreds of performance reports, in formats ranging from the good old Excel spreadsheet to a colorful dashboard.
Regardless of the format, the reports are always packed with data. However, many don’t provide useful information for making sound decisions. Executives and managers rely on these reports to inform them how well the business is doing but are often frustrated by the quality of the information presented.
As a result, organizations are not fully leveraging their measurement efforts to create concrete gains in performance.
They find that:
- Buy-in affects what is measured and ownership of performance
- Functional metrics when not aligned across the organization create conflicts and unhealthy competition
- It is difficult to determine what is important to report up when there are so many metrics
- Lag indicators don’t allow for proactive decision making
- Inconsistent approaches lead to debates about the results instead of collaborative effort to advance the business
Done well, measurement produces organizational alignment around top priorities and provides employees with a clear line of sight on objectives, so they can take ownership of the results. The organization benefits from laser-focused, coordinated work and avoids expending their energy on frivolous initiatives.
This course is designed to give you the tools to enhance your approach to measurement, align efforts systematically, and improve buy-in, so you can deliver faster and better results.
“The 4-step methodology is a relevant, simple process to use for designing effective measures. We used it to establish the operations centre performance objectives. It has helped to keep us focused on what is most important.”
Brent MacPherson, Director of Operations Centre, FortisBC Energy
“Connie was engaged to help us inject results-based measures to Technology submissions within the City’s Capital Program. She provided staff with the foundations on how to clearly define results, project efficiencies and productivity gains that we need to gauge project performance. She is a clear thinker and excellent facilitator.”
Wayne Yee, Manager, Performance & Innovation, City of Richmond
